Advantage Behavioral Health is Hiring an Internal Auditor Near Florida, NY

Job Title: Internal Auditor

Reports to:

Overview:

As an Internal Auditor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, completion and compliance of clinical documentation within our behavioral healthcare facilities. Working closely with healthcare provider and compliance team, you will conduct detailed audits of patient medical records to assess the quality of documentation, appropriate level of care and adherence t0 regulatory requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the improvement of clinical documentation practice, enhance client care and promote optimal client care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Audit Planning
    1. Develop and implement internal auditing processes based on a thorough understanding of the company’s operations, regulatory requirements, And industry best practices.
    2. Conduct risk assessment to identify areas of potential concern and prioritize audit activities accordingly.
    3. Execute audit procedures, including testing internal controls, and evaluating compliance with policies and procedures.
  2. Compliance Monitoring
    1. Monitor adherence to regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, The Joint Commission, and other relevant standards in the behavioral health industry.
  3. Process Improvement
    1. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.
    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement recommendations and best practices identity through audit activities.
    3. Monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvements and provide ongoing support and guidance as needed.
  4. Reporting and Communication
  5. Prepare clear and concise audit reports documenting findings, recommendations, and action plans.
  6. Communicate audit results and recommendations to management and key stakeholders, facilitating discussions on remediation and improvement initiatives.
  7. Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed, ensuring timely and accurate responds to inquiries and requests.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related human services field.
  • Full clinical license in state of practice.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Previous experience in healthcare compliance as it pertains to mental health or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Professional certifications in healthcare compliance (e.g., Certified in Healthcare Compliance - CHC) are desirable.
